The system utilizes Modicon Quantum Ethernet PLC's that are connected an ABB SCADA System via OPC protocol. The PLC I/O controls and monitors starters in Model 6 Motor Control Centers. The PLC's also communicate to Circuit Monitors and Altivar 66 AFC's via Modbus Plus to collect data and make it available to the SCADA Computers. The PLC's, MCC's and some miscellaneous control panels were all interconnected using plug apart terminal boards and factory tested as a complete system with the SCADA Equipment prior to shipment to the site. The cabling used in the factory test was cut to length for field installation so that all field interconnections of the equipment would be pre-tested during the FAT.
